The Senate has ordered an investigation into the current fuel scarcity
being experienced across the nation.
The Senate said that the scarcity is creating untold hardship to
citizens who have to pay higher prices for Premium Motor Spirit (PMS)
also known as petrol.
The motion on the current fuel scarcity all around the country and the
need to urgently resolve the crisis was moved by Sen. Barau Jibrin
(Kano North) and co-sponsored by 23 other Senators.
Senator Paulker (Bayelsa Central) said something is wrong in the
petroleum supply chain, while calling for the invitation of petroleum
minister to tell the Senate and Nigerians what is actually happening.
Senator Shehu Sani also supports the motion that Minister of State for
Petroleum, Ibe Kachikwu be invited.
The Senate President, Bukola Saraki mandated the senate Committee on
Petroleum Downstream to examine the current fuel scarcity issues and
report back in two weeks.
