The electricity supply in the country would be worsein the
coming days as Niger Delta militants have destroyed crude
and gaspipelines belonging to Nigerian National Petroleum
Cooperation (NNPC) in Azama,Gbaramatu Kingdom in Warri South
Council Area of Delta State
The crude line is said to feed the Warri and
Kaduna refinery respectively, while the gas line feeds the
Lagos and Abujaelectricity power supply and with this
development the Warri and Kaduna Refineries will be shut
down, it was learned.
This is coming barely 24 hours after it blew up WellD25 in
Abiteye, a major gas well belonging to Chevron Nigeria
Limited (CNL) on Thursday.
Our reporter learned that the attack was as a resultof
Tompolo’s refusal to tender apology to the group for
denying their existencein a letter he wrote to President
Muhammadu Buhari.
According to the spokesman of the group, Colonel
Mudoch Agbinibo , NDA’s Strike Team 4 carried out the
deadly attacks.
It was not yet clear whether there was human casualty in the
attacks, but our source said the bang which triggered a
hugeball of fire jostled the people in the riverside
community and sent them scampering for safety even as some
residents were already relocating to the neighboring Ijaw
villages and Warri out of apprehension, adding that the
fire was still burning and leaking the crude as of the time
of filling this report.
It was gathered that the military personnel stationed some
100meters away from the blasted NNPC’s pipelines, were
helpless as theycould not defused the attacks.
The group warned that it would not be deterred nomatter
‘’the heavy present of military operatives and it is
just a waste offund and time to let the Nigeria military
protect oil installations’’, adding, ‘’We are the
Niger Delta avengers and you the Nigerian military are not
going to see us coming but we will get you.’’
While accusing Tompolo of taking side with the government,
the group warned politicians, traditional rulers, community
leadersto mind their business and ‘’leave the liberation
of the Niger delta people tothe Avengers.’’
‘’Those who believes taking sides with federal government
to fight Niger Deltans is the best option. Avengers are here
onground, neither you nor the federal government can stop
us. If you don’t stay clear and let us to carry out our
activities we will bring the fight to your individual
doorsteps. Our major goal is to cripple the Nigeria
economy’’, the group said.
It added: ‘’we are using this medium to ask all Niger
Deltans to take the war to all oil installations in their
various communities because this is your war.’’
The group also threatened that the recent sequence ofattacks
was the beginning of more that would come in the days ahead,
and named other offshore facilities being targeted to
include, Bonga Fpso, EA field . Bonny tank farm,
Escravos tank farm and Forcadostank farm.
