Pressure Mounts On INEC To Postpone Elections In Three States

by Our Reporter
Worried by the dwindling electoral fortunes of President Mohammadu Buhari, the Cabal in the Presidency are mounting intense pressure on the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to postpone elections in Borno, Kaduna and Adamawa states.

The Cabal led by Abba Kyari, the chief of staff to the President, according to sources is citing security reasons why the elections in the three states needs to be postponed.

Sources have confirmed topointblanknews.com that the move is aimed at using security operatives to rig the elections in those states

While the pressure continues, sources hinted that the INEC chairman, Professor Mahmood Yakubu has insisted he cannot stagger the elections.

“If you hear in the news that elections in three northern states will be postponed this weekend, do not in anyway be alarmed.

According to a source, “the INEC Chairman is resisting this new pressure but it is not clear how long he would hold out before he gives in. Once national security is used as an excuse in this country, it takes precedent over everything.

“They have added Adamawa to beat Atiku comprehensively there, using the military, and in order to humiliate him,” the source said.

Sources hintedpointblankews.com that the security meeting yesterday with the governors of those states was used to perfect the plans to postpone elections in those states citing security reasons.

A source in INEC confirmed topointblanknews.com the agency’s readiness to conduct the elections.

“We are ready for the elections and everything has been put in place for a hitch free elections. But if the Government uses any guise to push us to postpone it, Nigerians should know it is not INEC that is not ready but the Government,” the source said.
