Operatives of Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) this morning stormed Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Anambra State, and quizzed several officials of the school.
Pointblanknews.com gathered that the Vice Chancellor Prof. Boniface Egboka, the bursar, Pastor J. Agu, and key officials of the university’s bursary department played host to the EFCC operatives.
During today’s raid, the operatives reportedly carted away a computer and several files from the bursary department for forensic analysis.
The visit was said to have caught staffers in the offices of the VC and bursar unawares, and saw several visitors to the offices discussing the matter in hushed tones.
A top EFCC source told Pointblanknews that today’s raid had to do with several petitions of graft levelled against the VC and the bursary officials.
“There are several petitions of the VC and the bursar using the bank accounts of staff to siphon monies belonging to the school.
Our investigations necessitated visiting the school and putting the claims to verification. Some officials have blamed the funny lodgements on a faulty computer, hence we decided to see for ourselves,” offered the source.
