Middleweight boxing legend Marvelous Marvin Hagler has passed away at the age of 66, his wife has confirmed.
Southpaw Hagler was undisputed middleweight champion between 1980 and 1987, and is an inductee of the International Boxing Hall of Fame.
Kay Hagler wrote on social media: “I am sorry to make a very sad announcement.
“Today unfortunately my beloved husband Marvelous Marvin passed away unexpectedly at his home here in New Hampshire.
Our family requests that you respect our privacy during this difficult time.”
Hagler – who legally changed his name to Marvelous in 1982 after being annoyed that commentators didn’t refer to him by it – was twice named fighter of the year by Ring magazine, who also named him as the fourth greatest middleweight of all-time.
