Scores of gunmen last night invaded Igangan, in Oyo State, the town that recently sent Fulani herders packing, reportedly killing many people.

Oyo State Governir, Seyi Makinde confirmed the attack on his Facebook page but was silent on the figure of fatalities.

The gunmen were said to have struck at midnight killing, maiming and setting houses ablaze.

The hoodlums which, the Spokesperson of Igangan people, Mr Taiwo Adeagbo, said were Fulani herders, also set ablaze the palace of the monarch in the agrarian town.

The unprovoked attacks have also been confirmed by the former caretaker chairman of the council, Mr Tunji Omolewu, who reportedly said he rushed down to Igangan this morning (Sunday) to verify the attacks.

The attacks came on the heels of the alarm raised recently by the Chairman of Amotekun Corps in Oyo State, General Ajibola Togun (retd) that some foreign herders were about to unleash terror on the six states in the South West.
