Flash Back: Tinubu Hails Atiku’s Detribalised Character, Knocks Buhari , Suggests Fmr VP’s Suitability For Presidency

Leader of the governing All Progressive Congress (APC) Asiwaju Bola Tinubu in a Wikileaks cable praised former Vice President Atiku Abubakar for his detribalised nature, adding that it was this character the nation needed.
Tinubu, a former governor of Lagos state, draw a comparison between President Muhammadu Buhari and Atiku Abubakar, concluding that Buhari was an agent of destabilization.

Making the shocking distinction back in 2013 about the presidential candidate of the party and current President, General Muhammadu Buhari which resurfaced via Wikileaks documents, he praised the former Vice President whom he has known for many years.

Tinubu who buttressed Atiku’s detribalised nature, had predicted that efforts to discredit him will fail because of the huge support base the former Vice President has across the country.

Elaborating on his knowledge of the former Vice President, Tinubu said he has known and understood the Atiku even before his entry into politics, adding thet he knows where he is going and how to build bridges to get there.

While drawing a distinction between the duo, Tinubu had said “Moreover, Obasanjo is the only candidate who stands a chance of blocking his rival, General Muhammadu Buhari, whose ethnocentrism would jeopardize Nigeria”s national unity. Buhari and his ilk are agents of destabilization who would be far worse than Obasanjo.

The secret release also divulged that Tinubu credits his going into politics to Atiku’s personal encouragement.

The release also pointed  to Tinubu’s admiration of Atiku, suggesting that the he could be persuaded to play a national role in an Atiku administration if the former Vice President were elected as President  for a four year term.
