Chime Is Back

The Enugu State Governor, Sullivan Chime, has  returned to Nigeria after being away without official leave for over four months.

Information commissioner, Chucks Ugwoke  who confirmed his return from Enugu, said there was no vaccum while Chime was away.

Ugwoke told Channels Television  ” His excellency returned today.He has been fully in charge of governance while away. He gave approvals of payments, kept in touch with commissioners and other officials, contractors are still on site”

But feelers from Enugu said The Deputy Governor, Mr. Sunday Onyebuchi, acted  in the governor’s capacity, but his aides were not pleased with Chime’s directives, that Onyebuchi should not approve more than N500,000 for any project, no matter the circumstance

The nature of his illness had been a mystery but recently governors of Benue, Akwa Ibom and Rivers state visited him and released a controversial photo of them and Chime looking healthy.

Unconfirmed reports however said Chime battled with some renal issues that made him shuttle between India and London.

According to reports,  Chime arrived Abuja thursday morning  aboard a British Airways flight.

Governor Godswill Akpabio of Akwa Ibom had said in Lagos on Friday that Mr. Chime, who was receiving treatment abroad, would return home within 10 days.

Mr Chime was last seen in public four months ago. Officials of Enugu State government said he was on vacation and would soon return home.
