Terror attack: TUC Secretary-General, Ozigi, Kaduna based doctor, NBTE director Kofarmata others killed

The Secretary-General of the Trade Union Congress (TUC) of Nigeria, Barrister Musa-Lawal Ozigi, has been confirmed to be among the passengers killed when terrorists bombed an Abuja-Kaduna train and abducted scores of passengers on Monday evening.

Also Megafu Chinelo, a University of Port Harcourt trained Dental Surgeon, has been identified as one of the passengers shot dead.

According to multiple reports, Dr. Chinelo, who was among the passengers on board the train had twitted after being shot and called for prayers.

Her tweet reads: “I’m on the train. I have been shot, please pray for me”

After the incident, a friend of the deceased said, “Dr Chinelo was making an honest living, she was working at St Gerald’s hospital in Kaduna, she wanted more for herself and processed her papers to leave this hell-hole.

“She resigned last month to leave the country this Friday then this happened. Nigeria why???”

Another friend of the deceased said, “Yes, it’s true, though I don’t know when she was meant to leave. May her soul Rest In Peace.”

Abdu Isa Kofarmata, director at the National Board for Technical Education, NBTE, was also reported killed at the incident.

It was also reported that Muhammad Amin Mahmood, an aspirant in the just-concluded National Convention of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the Northwest Zonal Youth Leadership, was shot during the attack on Monday.

However, as of the time of filing this report, it was not clear how critical his injuries were or if he would survive.

Two cleaners and workers of the attacked Abuja-Kaduna train identified as Loretta and Abdul were confirmed dead.

During the attack, many passengers were reportedly killed while others were abducted.

Unverified number of passengers sustained various degrees of injury.

Among the several passengers kidnapped is the Managing Director of Bank of Industries, Kabiru Mohammed Adamu.

Meanwhile, the Kaduna State Government Tuesday issued an update on the terrorists’ attack on a Kaduna-bound train but failed to give figures for casualties.

It however said the evacuation of passengers trapped in the train from Abuja was concluded this morning by security forces.

The government said the passengers who sustained injuries and other fatalities had also been moved to hospitals.

Meanwhile, the families of the victims are currently in trauma. Some of the families said they were yet to get confirmation concerning the whereabouts and well-being of their loved ones.
