Tension In Abuja Market As Igbo Traders Clash With Hausa Okada Riders

by Our Reporter
There’s palpable tension in the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, following a face-off between the Igbos and Hausas at the popular Dei-Dei International market in Abuja.

According to an unconfirmed report, the Igbos in the area are alleging that the Hausa Okada riders developed a bad habit of dropping their passengers (mostly Igbos) forcefully along the road and even in the bush and zoom off.

In a video circulating on social media, the Igbos are protesting the death of a woman in the area who was picked up by an okada rider who “in their usual recent habit, dropped the woman off the motorbike and she fell down and died instantly.

“The news of the death of the woman angered the traders who came out  to confront the motor cycle riders”, the narrator said in the video.
