Nigeria Will Be Great Again! Who Am I?

by Our Reporter

I am a rejuvenating Nigerian, I was the beaten Nigerian! I was the Nigerian who was declared the happiest citizen of the world. Don’t ask me how. I was the Nigerian who is among the most hospitable people in the universe. No need for proof on this. And, If Church going and Mosque attendance is a good indicator of being religious, then I am the Nigerian who lives in the most religious nation on the planet. Do not ask If I actually believe in the faith I proclaim.
I was the Nigerian, who is forced to spend 12 hours driving just a mare 100km, and then promptly tell God I am happy he made my Journey safe, while He wonders why I didn’t demand the road be fixed and the checkpoints removed. I was the Nigerian who screams in joy when the Power Company was magnanimous enough to provide electricity for 2 of the 24 hours of our sweltering days.
I was the Nigerian who shares the same vehicle with sacks of beans and corn; drums of kerosene and petrol; decks of goats, cows, and chickens; and bales of hay; or cramped in a toilet-less ‘luxurious’ bus! I was the Nigerian who is cut off by you on the road, the Nigerian you insult for keeping to my right of way, the Nigerian you crash into with that tetanus-ed metal junk you call ‘car’! I was the Nigerian you crash into with your siren blaring convoy, subsequently I get bundle into ‘general hospital’ while you run abroad for your own care!
I was the Nigerian who hates standing in lines, cannot follow the rules of FIFO because I abhor taking turns. I was the Nigerian who has no iota of courtesy in my veins! I was the Nigerian who uses my tribe and my ethnicity as a badge of honour instead of my character. I was the Nigeria who behaves civilized off our shores but become wild and brutish once I set foot on our land. I was the Nigerian who is abused and insulted by all Embassies and border controls of other nations, yet I manage to treat other Nationals who visit my land as kings and queens of the world!
I was the Nigerian who lives in fear within my own self created prison with razor wires surrounding my home and office; while those who should be imprisoned roam the land free as birds. I was the Nigerian who is Jobless, in a broken but repairable country; homeless, in a country full of empty mansions stashed chockfull of Naira; unpaid, in a country where my representatives get N1 billion every four years; and hungry, in a land that is fertile enough to feed all of Africa!
I was the Nigerian who is deprived of my liberty and denied my pursuit of happiness. And I was also the Nigerian who kills and wantonly maim my neighbour because he speaks a different language or believes a different faith.
Then May 29, 2015 happened and Buhari Came! Eureka. My travails from above have abated greatly. I am now the Nigerian who is confident that life is good and getting better day by day because we have Buhari as President.
I was a Happy Nigerian on the Outside and a Dying Nigeria on the Inside. Not anymore. I am now learning to be The Best Nigerian, The Patriotic Nigerian, The Industrious Nigerian, The Courteous Nigerian, The Proud Nigerian, The Candid Nigerian, And the Incorruptible Nigerian; With Buhari leading by example.
It is CORRUPTION that made me into the NIGERIAN that I was, sometimes still am and determined to change!
With President Muhammadu Buhari leading the way for you and I, into change, failure is not an option.
Buhari is a dogged, blistering, steadfast, unwavering, resolute fighter who took on a corrupt system, over 12 yrs, and won! No politician, in the political history of Nigeria has ever stood up for what is right, and paid with all he has, to defend our democracy like Buhari. He stood confidently on the side of good governance and peaceful politics and he embodies the true tenets of majority democracy, for the beginning of a new Nigeria.
Without corruption, Nigeria will be an African lion. We will be a bullet train whose momentum will propel us to unprecedented development and economic growth, unrivaled by any nation. We will be the standard upon which all developing African countries will copy; a template for pulling the Negro race out of poverty and penury.
But, Nigeria must be aware that “Corruption is powerful. Corruption fights back. If corruption pleads and cajoles and appeals” and we refuse to listen, corruption will try to play dirty! It is especially true now that Buhari is deliberately selecting the right people to fill his cabinet and manage our government.
Already the naysayers are lined up against the good steps of change that are unfolding in our nation, and many Nigerians are sick and tired of the futile regional jingoist-wailers on Social Media, who can do no better than cry wolf over every appointment made by Buhari, unless it is their blood relative who is appointed.
Cry all you want, the days of equal incompetence are gone.
The last time I checked, An Igbo is at the helm of the CBN and at the NNPC, as well as the Deputy Senate President. So what is the Southeasterners crying about? A Yoruba is at the FIRS and is the VP and the Senate President and the Deputy Speaker and the Majority leader. So, as hard as you may look, you cannot find a “Northern” president. What you will find is a popular president who is acknowledged the world over as the best elixir that Nigeria needs at this time.
It is common sense that Buhari will not appoint his vociferous opponents as his closest advisers. Only a foolish president will do that. Nevertheless, where appropriate, the president has considered all of Nigeria’s peculiarities and our constitutional boundaries, before making his choices, and I am confident he will continue to do so. President Buhari is the embodiment of equal opportunity for all Nigerians. He will not disappoint!
All we ask of Buhari is to appointment capable NIGERIANS!
This is what President Buhari said on the eve of the last election:-
“The change that I seek therefore; is a change from the current regime of mindless corruption and profligacy; a change from fear and insecurity to peace and stability; a change from religious and ethnic divisiveness to unity, equity and justice. This is the change that my party stands for. This is the change that I am committed to bringing about as President. Give me the chance to lead you in rebuilding a Nigeria that all of us can be proud of once again.
I have no doubt that with God being on our side; together we can make our country great once again.”
Wailers beware; there is a new sheriff in town!
Only fools can be thirsty in the ocean!
I am a Rejuvenating Nigerian!
