NIGERIANS AND THE AMUSEMENT OF POLITICAL HYPOCRISY

by Our Reporter
Honestly, if there is one thing about Nigerians that amuses me in our political development, it is the level of hypocrisy in our land that is amusing but not surprising.
Nigerians hypocritically pretend as if they don’t have political affiliations or sympathy here at home and want to claim that they are apolitical, but go to the extent  of labelling persons who openly profess their political philosophy or association through either writings or comments in accordance with the postulations of Harold Lasswell, that we as human beings, are political animals.
Even in the Bible, Jesus Christ admonished that, he who is not with us, is against because you cannot serve God and mammon. You just have a to make a choice between two ends because there is no middle course in life, you are either in, or out, there is no in and out simultaneously.
I say this with the background of how these Nigerians who have “no” political association or affiliation to the developments at home, have become the major megaphone of political developments in the US by the unflinching support of most on the social media for Hilary Clinton of the democratic party as against Donald Trump of the Republican.
Are these “apolitical saints” telling us that they don’t believe in our political system because of its inherent deficiencies which in their thinking, is totally absent in the American system?
If you can openly support a political party in America but you are hiding and pretending not to have support or sympathy for any of the political parties in Nigeria, we know better that you are one of the problems bedevilling our political development with hypocrisy which is amusing, afterall the right of association is an inalienable right under the Nigerian constitution.
