Sources told Pointblanknews.com that in 2015, once Kachikwu was appointed GMD/Minister of State, Petroleum, President Buhari handed Umar, his friend, to him and told him that the retired Air Commodore has information about stolen crude stored in tank farms in China.
While Kachikwu was to work with Umar and then Group General Manager, Crude, Mele Kyari, to determine how to go about recovering the stolen crude, the retired Air Commodore started plotting with late Abba Kyari, Magu, Kyari, and others on how to sell off the crude and share the proceeds.
“First, they started trying to ask Kachikwu to resign and nominate Kyari as his replacement as GMD, they kept on pushing and started blackmailing him,” a source told Pointblanknews.com
Umar and Mele Kyari, according to sources in the know of the deal, never went back to Kachikwu to give him any more details about the stolen crude.
Pointblanknews.com gathered that when Kachikwu independently started hearing that the crude may have been sold and started asking questions, the cartel used Magu to generate a security report against Kachikwu that was given to President Buhari.
Sources told Pointblanknews.com that the president relied on that report in 2016 to remove Kachikwu as GMD NNPC, leaving him to retain the position of Minister of State, Petroleum, an apparent redundant position.
Once Kachikwu was out of the way as GMD, NNPC, Maikanti Baru was appointed GMD, NNPC and subsequently co-opted into the deal, according to findings by Pointblanknews.com.
“Baru was part of the deal. He knew about it from the beginning He covered up and got his own share of the deal,” a source told Pointblanknews.com.
Pointblanknews.com learned that once Baru was to retire after attaining 60yrs which is the retirement age, the cartel through late Chief of Staff, refused to allow the most senior take over as GMD NNPC. While Rabiu Bello and Rabiu Sulaiman were all shortlisted, they were ignored.
Abba Kyari instead, forwarded to President Buhari, the name of Mele Kyari, a far more junior officer, to be named GMD NNPC, to replace a retiring Baru.
Sources told Pointblanknews.com that the appointment of Kyari was simply to continue to cover the shady deals and the fraudulent and secret sale of the $2.5billion crude in China.
Pointblanknews.com gathered that since his assumption as GMD, Kyari has been in alignment with Air Commodore Umar Mohammed and Ibrahim Magu, to continue to conceal the illegal and secret sale of the $2.5billion Bonny Light Crude.
