2015: Jonathan Not Changing VP Sambo As Running Mate…Gov. Shema Wants VP, Lobbies Yar’Adua Group

by Our Reporter

Those who want Vice President Namadi Sambo out ahead of 2015 President Elections or scheming to take his position should perish the thought as President Goodluck Jonathan will not be dropping him as a running mate.

In the last few weeks, there has been an orchestrated media report of a plot by some politicians scheming to edge out Vice President Sambo from being the running mate of President Jonathan should he decides to seek a second term in 2015.

Pointblanknews.com has scooped from highly placed sources that should the President decides to seek a second term, VP Sambo will be his running mate.

A source close to the President who is knowledgeable with the political calculations confirmed to Pointblanknews.com that the President would after all have VP Sambo by his side as a running mate when he declares to run for 2015.

It was gathered that Kastina State Governor, Ibrahim Shema, who had hitherto been tipped to replace Governor Chibuike Amaechi as the Governor’s Forum Chairman, had mounted a high lobby machinery to press on President Jonathan to drop Sambo ahead of 2015 Presidential election.

Backed by a top Presidential Aide, Shema had argued that VP Sambo would not be able to rally the North or deliver the required votes from the North for President Jonathan in 2015.

The Top Presidential Aide was said to have approached the President with the idea of a Shema as a running mate in 2015 and was categorically told to perish the thought.

“Mr. President knew about the plots even before he was approached by his aide and he had a ready-made answer. He told his aide he has no intention and as a matter of fact, won’t drop Sambo if he decides to run in 2015.”

Governor Shema, another source revealed, has now decided to approach the Yar’Adua political family, which he had dumped soon after the death of president Umaru Musa Yar’Adua.

Pointblanknews.com gathered that his new scheme is to approach the Yar’Adua political group and seek for their support to pressure President Jonathan to drop VP Sambo.

Under the new plot, the Yar’Adua Political group will argue that President Jonathan has not been fair to the group since the death of the President Yar’Adua and then seek to make a case for Shema as a replacement for VP Sambo ahead of 2015.

But a Presidency source countered that such sinister moves and desperation from Governor Shema would fall flat, as the President cannot change his mind on running with VP Sambo.

“No mater what plan is hatched, no matter the scheme or desperation, this President is not weak and he does not change his mind easily. On Sambo, he has decided that when de declares to run, they will both run and that wont change from what I am seeing now,” a source told Pointblanknews.com.

Efforts to reach Governor Shema or his Media Aides were unsuccessful. An Aide of the Vice President who would not want to be named said they are not aware of such development but added, “it might not be completely ruled out.”
