Should President Goodluck Jonathan be forced to do a single term or muscled out of the Presidential race in 2015, Militants of the Niger Delta will shut down oil flows and ground the operations of any incoming Government of a Northern extraction, an analytical report conducted by top Security chiefs reveal.
Nigeria makes 95 per cent of its foreign exchange earnings from the Oil sector produced from the Niger Delta Region where President Jonathan hails from.
Top Security Chiefs have been busy studying the current political situations in the country and the growing attacks of the Boko Haram and it seeming disruption of the President Jonathan’s administration, an agent privy to the meetings told Pointblanknews.com
According to findings of the Security Chiefs, retaliations from the South-South Militants awaits any President of a Northern extraction in 2015, a situation that might lead to the prediction of the of a possible break up of Nigeria.
The Central Intelligence Agency, CIA– America’s premier external intelligence gathering outfit had made a dire prediction that Nigeria as a corporate entity was likely to splinter along tribal and sectarian lines in 2015 if some of the inherent fault lines were not properly managed and controlled.
But the U.S Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr. Terrence McCauley denied the CIA report.
However, the Analytical Report feared that that should a Northerner take over from President Goodluck Jonathan in 2015 either through a free and fair election, Nigeria might implode.
According to the source, officers who conducted the analysis indicated in the report that Niger Delta Militants many of whom are enjoying Amnesty and Government patronage view the current Boko Haram attacks in the country as an attack against the administration of president Jonathan, a Christian southerner.
The analysis, according to the source noted that while Northern Politicians appear lukewarm or lackadaisical about the consequences of not helping to tame the Boko Haram insurgence, the Niger Delta Militants who are still heavily armed view the Islamist Militancy as a creation of Northern politicians primarily aimed at disrupting President Jonathan regime.
The security analysis which was carried out by some egg heads within the Security agencies in the country according to the source noted that the feelings within Niger Deltans is that the North has deliberately folded it arms and allowed Boko Haram to fester and disrupt the Governance of President Goodluck Jonathan, a son of the Niger Delta.
“As part of our efforts to secure this country and support democratic growth, we have been conducting some research and doing analysis of the current security situations in the country and it is the view of some of us that 2015 will be a tough political year for Nigeria,” the Security source told Pointblanknews.com.
According to the source, “our findings from our research and analysis have shown that the Niger Delta Militants would not watch and see a Northerner take over from President Jonathan in 2015.”
The source continued:
“We believe that Boko Haram is not just a religious group, they are politically motivated and have ties with top Politicians in the North and their activities are an indication that they abhor Jonathan’s Presidency
“So what we have discovered is that the same way they have disrupted the Presidency of Jonathan with their activities, the same way the Niger Delta Militants will react should President Jonathan loses the elections in 2015 or should he be forced out of the race
“Nigeria heavily depends on crude oil sales for revenue. The Niger Delta Militants would disrupt oil flows and render the Government cashless within six months and this will bring down the country.”
According to the source who does not want to be named because of the sensitivity of the issue, “unfortunately Northern leaders are too blind folded and power drunk to understand how Southerners, especially Niger Deltans feel about all these. They carry on as if should power return to the North, then all the problems in the country would be over.”
The source hinted that while the security analytical report is yet to be completed, it is purely intended as a document that would be used to feel the pulse of the nation ensure that Nigeria remains one.
Only recently, Alhaji Asai Dokubo warned that no “gang up” against Jonathan would stand.
He said, “I want to say that there will be no peace, not only in the Niger Delta, but everywhere, if Goodluck Jonathan is not the president by 2015, except God takes his life, which we do not pray for.
“Jonathan has uninterrupted eight years of two terms to be president, according to the Nigeria constitution. We must have our uninterrupted eight years of two tenures. I am not in support of any amendment to the constitution that will reduce the eight years of two tenures that Jonathan is expected to be president of Nigeria.”
It would be recalled that Pointblanknews.com in September 2010 had exclusively reported plans by some Northern elements to scuttle the President Jonathan’s administration using Boko Haram. See http://www.pointblanknews.com/News/os3912.html
