2015: Uduaghan Backs Down On Anioma Candidate, Adopts Edevbie For Governor

by Our Reporter

Following the refusal of all the 12 Governorship aspirants from Delta

North, otherwise known as Anioma to agree on a consensus candidate and
stop the campaign of calumny within their ranks, Governor Emmanuel
Uduaghan has now thrown his weight behind Mr. David Edevbie, an Urhobo
from Ugheli.

Edevbie was a Principal Secretary to late President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua.
He was also a Commissioner for Finance during Chief James Ibori’s
administration.

Pointblanknews.com had exclusively reported that the Aniomas are at the
verge of losing the Governorship slot earlier zoned to them owing to
blackmail and character assassination that characterizes their campaigns.

Sir Anthony Obuh, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, Hon. Victor Ochei were the
leading contenders for the Governorship slot from Anioma.

Up until Sunday night, the Governorship aspirants from Anioma were yet to
agree on a candidate. Some had continued to blackmail Governor Uduaghan.

Sensing danger, Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, stakeholders in the state
met and agreed to take the Governorship slot to Delta Central from where
Edevbie emerged as the consensus candidate.

Edevbie emergence has now knocked the political engine of the Aniomas as
they lack the political muscle to defeat an Urhobo candidate even if they
move to another political party.

The Urhobo Progressive Union (UPU) has already adopted Edevbie as the
consensus candidate and all other aspirants from the Delta South and Delta
Central zones were asked to step down for him.
