In less than 24 hours after seeking for a dialogue,The Boko Haram Islamic sect have again carried out their onslaught killing General Mamman Shuwa (Rtd) and Five other Soldiers guiding his house in Maiduguri Borno State.
The attackers were said to have laid an ambush on the five Joint Taskk Force (JTF) military personal before they were eventually killed a Military source told Pointblanknews.com
The source added that the terrorist numbering about 15 persons immediately gained entrance into Genaral Shuwa’s house who is also a Chieftain of the All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) house and shot him dead.
Also, the JTF were said the have conducted a cordon and search operation around Shehuri area of the state capital last night where over 50 boko haram members were said to have been arrested while some of them who attempted to resist attempted arrest were shoot and killed immediately
The killing of General Shuwa who until his death part of surviving Soldier that fought the Biafran war came to the ANPP as a huge loss as the General had consistently delivered his local government; Kalabalge to the ruling party.
” General Shuwa was a piller of the ANPP in Borno State and Kalabalge in particular, his death is a huge loss to the our party ” an ANPP member said
Mean while the JTF in the usual wa issued a statement but claime that none of their men was killed during the attack.
Spokesman of the JTF Lieutenant Colonel Sagir Musa said at about 12 noon today at General Muhammadu Shuwa (Rtd) Was killed while the General was seated in his house with some guests.
According to Musa ” four men initially thought to be his visitors and guests for the Juma,at prayers entered his house and opened fire on the General and his guests. One of the guests died on the spot while the general died on the way to the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital. The JTF troops located in the area immediately cordoned off the area and search for the assailants is ongoing to apprehend the terrorists.
The terrorists that carried out the killing of the late General will be brought to book. We call on the citizens to bring forward information that will assist the security agencies to apprehend the terrorists.
