Abia North: Sen. Kalu Tasks Abia Govt, NEMA On Flood Disaster In Nkporo

Senator representing Abia North Constituency in the National Assembly, Orji Uzor Kalu has called on the state government and the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to intervene with response to mitigate the effects of the recent flooding experienced there.
Sen Orji, a former governor of the state, who lamented the disastrous consequences of the flood in the area, expressed sympathies with the families affected by the natural disaster.
In a tweet on his social media handle on Friday  as monitored by Pointblanknews.com, Sen. Orji assured the people that he had already written to NEMA for aid to those affected.
He also tasked the state government under Governor Okezie Ikpeazu on immediate response to mitigate the havoc caused.
The statement reads: “Many times , natural disasters like floods take away many homes and many lives. And those who are left behind are in complete chaos and challenges around. In Nkporo , Abia North constituency of Abia state , a serious flood disaster recently caused a lot of havoc on my people.
“If only humans control over natural disasters but all we have is control over our minds. To my great people of Nkporo , Let us not give up to these challenging times.  Please accept my deepest sympathies for your loss . You and your family will always be in my prayers.
“We cannot fight against the nature but we can always fight against the circumstances we are surrounded with. I have written to the
National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to speed up action and come to the aid of Nkporo people.
“I am also calling on the Governor of the State, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu to come to the rescue of the community . The government should step in with immediate response actions to mitigate the havoc .
“You and your family will continue to be in my prayers. May God help us  get over the pain this natural calamity has left you us .” He said.
