Islamic leaders in the northern Nigeria city of Kano have urged the released Major Hamza Al-Mustapha, former Chief Security Officer (CSO) to the late Head of State, General Sani Abacha to dedicate his life to Almighty Allah.

The released Major who served 15 years in prison paid special visits to a number of Islamic leaders who in one way or the other played a role for his freedom on Tuesday.

The Chief Imam of Al-furquan Mosque in Nassarawa GRA, Sheikh (Dr.) Bashir Umar prayed to Allah to continue to guide and protect Hamza, while urging him to give all his heart to Allah who has made it possible for him to regain his freedom after 15 years incarceration.

Dr. Umar advised him to, “see all these persecution and tribulation you suffered as the will of Allah; and what you should do now is to totally submit yourself to God. Prophet Yusuf had similar trials but at the end he was compensated by Allah with greater position.”

“So, try to forget all that has happened to you and forgive whoever must have a hand in the mastermind. Allah in his Infinity mercy shall surely fulfill all His plans in your life and reward you abundantly.” The Head of Tijjaniyya movement in West Africa, Sheikh Isyaku Rabi’u urged Al-Mustapha to surrender his life to Allah and forgive whoever he believed had offended him, pointing out that with Allah, everything is possible.

“I am aware of how prayerful Maryam Abacha was. She prayed fervently to ensure that someday, you will be free and we thank Allah that the day has finally come.

“In your situation, I do not think there is any need for you to question Allah for what has happened to you. As a true, Muslim, you must not revenge. You must not slap someone because the person slapped you. Yyou have to cultivate the spirit of forgiveness and carry on with your life,”Sheikh Isyaku Rabi’u said.

At the Qadiriyyah House in the city, the leader of the Qadiriyyah Movement, Sheikh Qaribullah Nasiru Kabara counseled Hamza Al-Mustapha on the spirit of forgiveness, adding that he will continue to pray that God grant him good health and the wisdom to succeed in life.

Hamza Al-Mustapha also visited the grave of the late Sheikh Ja’afar Mahmud Adam at the Dorayi grave Yard where he prayed for the repose of the soul of the murdered Islamic scholar who he said regularly visited and encouraged him while in KiriKiri prison in Lagos.
