Anambra 2014: APGA’s Obiano In Early Lead

Field reports from today’s governorship election in Anambra State indicate that All Progressives’ Grand Alliance (APGA) candidate Willy Obiano is in early lead in at least 13 local government areas.

The councils include the seven that make up Anambra north senatorial district, namely Anambra East, Anambra West, Anyamelum, Oyi, Ogbaru, Onitsha North and Onitsha South.

The APGA candidate, according to field reports in leading in Njikoka, Awka North and South, Anaocha, in the central senatorial zone. Obiano’s running mate, Dr. Nkem Okeke, is from Enugwu-Ukwu, a major town in Njikoka council.

In the southern zone, Obiano is said to be leading in Aguata
Orumba North and Orumba South.

All Progressive Congress (APC) candidate Dr. Chris Ngige put up strong showing in Idemili North and South. He is from Alor, in Idemili South council.

He put up a disappointing performance in Anambra North, where his running mate, Hon. Raphael Okeke, Obiano, as well as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Comrade Tony Nwoye hail from.

Labour Party (LP) candidate, Mr. Ifeanyi Ubah was reportedly in early lead in Nnewi North and South local government areas.

Elections were however deferred in 67 polling units in Obosi, in Idemili local council. They have been rescheduled for Sunday.
