At least 125 suspected Boko Haram terrorists today regain their freedom
after 47 days in Military detention in Maiduguri, Borno state.
Presenting the suspects to the Borno state governor, Kashim Shettima at
the State house House, Colonel Sani Usman said the released persons
have nothing to do with the Boko Haram sect
” we have done a thorough investigation and at the end, we found out that
the suspects have nothing to do with the Boko Haram Terrorist Group .
” we initially arrested 254 suspected Boko Haram terrorists some 47 days
ago, after a bombardment of some terrorists hide out around Damboa general
area, 129 were found to be hard core Boko Haram members while 125 have
nothing to do with the terrorists group. ” Usman said.
Governor Shettima who received the freed persons urged the them to go back
to their communities and avoid all anti- social vices.
The Governor also gave cash assistance as well as clothing to the 125
freed persons and commended the military for their continued efforts at
fighting terrorism in the state.
