APC NEC Suspends Meeting To Remove Oshiomhole After Buhari’s plea

by Our Reporter
The National Executive Council, NEC, of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has postponed indefinitely it meeting slated for March 16 2020.

The suspension of the NEC meeting followed an advice from President Mohammadu Buhari during a meeting between him and governors elected on the APC platform.

Sources told Pointblanknews.com that President Buhari pleaded with Governors of the APC to shelve the meeting and explore more avenues in resolving the crisis facing the party.

The President, according to sources privy to the meeting, wants the NEC members to explore more appropriate ways of removing the embattled National Chairman of the party, Adams Oshiomhole.

The meeting, which started at about 3 pm, was specifically called to find a solution to the intractable APC leadership crisis.

At least 16 APC governors including Borno, Lagos, Ogun, Edo, Kebbi, Jigawa, Osun, Imo, Gombe, Niger, Kastsina, Plateau, Ondo, Kano, Kwara, Nassarawa governors, attended the meeting.

Meanwhile, the fate of the suspended National Chairman of the party, Adams Oshiomhole, continues to hang in the balance as the Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja on Monday adjourned indefinitely the hearing of his appeal.

The Appellate Court rescheduled the hearing on Oshiomhole’s suit to an undecided date on the grounds that the court is yet to constitute a panel to entertain the appeal.

Indications that the hearing will be truncated emanated when Justice Stephen Adah and two other Justices entered the court and announced that their panel was not billed to entertain Comrade Oshiomhole’s matter.

Justice Adah who presided over two other cases left the courtroom with information that another panel will soon be around and that if the panel was not ready, parties will be communicated

Less than two minutes after Justice Adah’s panel rose, one of the court registrars announced to the anxious lawyers and audience that hearing in Oshiomhole’s case will not proceed.

Justice Danlami Senchi who granted the injunction on March 4, said that political parties must be bound by their constitution and having been suspended by his ward, Comrade Oshiomhole is restrained from functioning as the National Chairman of the party pending the hearing and determination of the substantive suit.
