Former President Olusegun Obasanjo on Sunday paid a surprise congratulatory visit to Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke following his victory in the state’s August 15 governorship election.

The unexpected visit reportedly caught Adeleke off guard, prompting the governor to break into dancing and singing a praise song as soon as he sighted the former President.

The encounter provided a relaxed and celebratory moment as Obasanjo congratulated Adeleke on his re-election, while the governor expressed appreciation for the former President’s visit.

Adeleke was declared the winner of the keenly contested election after securing the highest number of votes, defeating the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Bola Oyebamiji.

The governor’s victory has attracted congratulatory messages from political leaders, public figures and other stakeholders across the country.

Obasanjo, a former military Head of State and democratically elected President, is one of Nigeria’s most prominent elder statesmen and continues to command considerable influence in the country’s political affairs.

His visit came shortly after Adeleke’s re-election and added a personal dimension to the wave of congratulatory messages received by the governor.

The meeting also provided a lighter moment following a fiercely contested election, with Adeleke’s spontaneous dance and praise singing reflecting the celebratory mood surrounding his victory.

The visit comes as Adeleke prepares to begin a second term in office, having secured a fresh mandate from the people of Osun State.
