Breaking: Senator Kalu in closed door meeting with Gov Ikpeazu

by Our Reporter
Chief Whip of the Senate, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu is currently locked in a closed door meeting with Abia State Governor,  Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, at his palatial mansion in Umuobiakwa in Obingwa LGA.
Pointblanknews.com gathered that Ikpeazu alongside his aides received the Chief Whip who arrived at the Governor’s country home at exactly 1:32pm.
Kalu, accompanied by aides and some associates were led into the lounge where both exchanged greetings.
After the greetings, the Governor led Kalu to the inner room for a private meeting.
The visit has added to the rumours making the rounds in the state that the Governor may defect to the All Progressive Congress (APC) where he will run for the Abia South senatorial seat. Pundits say the visit may be connected with the ongoing consultation among politicians for the 2023 general election. However, Ikpeazu has continued to dismiss reports that he may join the APC.
The Senate Chief Whip, who is regarded as the father of Abia Politics, is credited with giving Ikpeazu his first political appointment as the Transition Committee Chairman of Obingwa LGA in 2002.
“This is a political season when politicians, even across parties, consult one another. The Governor is the father of the state. So, it is not out of place for other political leaders to consult him on some issues affecting the state. Remember that Chief Orji Uzor Kalu is a former Governor of the state. It is immaterial whether they belong to the same political party or not,” an aide of the Governor told Pointblanknews.com
As at the time of filing this report, both Ikpeazu and Orji Kalu are still in the closed door meeting.
