At the inaugural sitting of the House on Monday witnessed by the Deputy Governor, Sir Ude Oko Chukwu and other dignitaries; Orji, a second term member who represents Umuahia Central State Constituency was nominated by Hon. Munachim Alozie(PDP/Ugwunagbo) and seconded by Hon. Ginger Onwusibe(PDP/Isiala Ngwa North).
The member representing Ohafia South state Constituency, Hon. Chief Ifeanyi Uchendu, emerged the deputy speaker of the House. He was nominated by the member representing Obingwa West state Constituency, Hon. Chidiebere Thomas Nkoro , while chief Jerry Uzosike (Umuahia South) supported his nomination.
Other principal officers who emerged include; Hon. Solomon Akpulonu, (Obingwa East), Majority Leader and Hon. Paul Taribo, (Ukwa East) Deputy Majority Leader.
Others are Hon. Abraham Oba,(Aba Central), Minority Leader, while Hon. Chukwu Chijioke(APC/Bende North), was announced as the Deputy Minority Leader.
Hon. Munachim Alozie was announced as the Chief Whip of the House, while Hon Chukwudi Apugo(PDP/Umuahia East) emerged as the Deputy Chief Whip.
In his acceptance, the speaker, Orji promised to lead the House to deliver quality laws to assist Governor Okezie Ikpeazu uplift the lives of the people of the state.
In a chat with newsmen at the Assembly complex, Majority Leader, Hon. Solomon Akpulonu, assured that the House would not disappoint the people of the state, promising that as a legislator, he will prioritize youth and women empowerment programmes as well as draw the attention of the state and federal government to improve the network of roads in his constituency.
