Confusion now trails the alleged arrest of the wife of the Oyo State Governor, Chief (Mrs.) Florence Ajimobi by the Met Police in London as the state Government has described the allegation as “wicked.”
The Oyo Governor’s wife was alleged to have been arrested in London for attempting to smuggle £400,000 and other foreign currencies into the United Kingdom.
The state Government has threatened to go to court, describing the report first published by an online medium and confirmed by PM News as “wicked and the figment of the imagination of the writers.”
A release from the Oyo State Government signed by Dr. Festus Adedayo, Special Adviser on Media to the Governor said the government is suing Independent Communications Network Limited, Publishers of PM News for N1 Billion.
“We want to state unequivocally that this report is not only wicked, it is the figment of the imagination of the writers. Mrs. Ajimobi was never arrested for any offense.”
According to the statement, “even though our investigations have shown that this is the work of some arrowheads of the opposition, it was done in the imagination of any responsible reader.”
