The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) gubernatorial candidate for Rivers State, Mr Siminalayi Fubara on Monday shunned the invitation of the Code Of Conduct Bureau (CCB) even as no reason was given for his action.
Pointblanknews.com had reported that Mr Fubara was billed to appear before the Code Of Conduct Bureau (CCB) on Monday, 7th October, 2022 and answer questions bordering on alleged breach of conduct for public officials.
With this action, it was gathered that the River State governor, Nyesom Wike is allegedly shopping for a judge to forestall the likelihood of any repacaution arising from Mr Fubara’s action and further stop the CCB from going ahead with the probe.
According to multiple sources at the CCB, the chairman of the Bureau, Mohammed Isah has read the riot act to top directors within the Bureau against taking any actions that would compromise the investigation.
The source further said that a the Chairman Mohammed Isah while handing down the warning, insisted that anymore who tries to induce the directors should be arrested.
“The CCB chair was visibly worried of allegations making rounds, that the Rivers governor was making frantic efforts to induce his directors with bribes to scuttle the investigation.
“He however instructed that anymore who comes around with inducement as concerning the case should be arrested immediately even as he promised that the case will be investigated to a logical conclusion”. The source revealed.
Pointblanknews.com also reports that Mr Fubara is also wanted by the Economic and Financial Crims Commission (EFCC) over N435 billion fraud, despite winning the primary election of the PDP ahead of the 2023 elections.
His ambition is widely speculated to have the blessings of the state governor, Nyesom Wike.
