 Court Orders Final Forfeiture Of N3b Assets Linked To Diezani

The Federal High Court sitting in Lagos has ordered the final forfeiture of assets linked to the former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs Diezani Alison-Madueke.

Mrs Alison-Madueke was charged in abstention with five others over some assets are estimated to be worth about N3 billion.
The assets were alleged by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission [EFCC] to have been acquired illicitly while she served as the Petroleum Minister.
The application for final forfeiture order was filed by EFCC in her absence in the United Kingdom where she is also being investigated for money laundering.
Recently, the anti-graft agency claimed it traced a whopping N47.2 billion and $487.5 million to Alison-Madueke
Besides the recent forfeiture, a previous court had ordered permanent forfeiture of another N7.6 billion also linked to the former Minister.
So far, she has reportedly lost fifty-six buildings to the EFCC.
In a rare turn of events, however, Mrs Alison-Madueke asked the Attorney-General of the Federation to facilitate her return home to face her accusers.
She said she is willing to go to jail if found guilty.
Meanwhile, it has been alleged that EFCC is blocking ex-Minister offer to return to Nigeria for trial.
