After a quarrel between Governor Okezie Ikpeazu , his lawyer, Wole
Olanipekun (SAN), and his godfather, Senator Theodore Orji over a $50
million to bribe the Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami
and Justices of the Supreme Court, Pointblanknews.com gathered that
instead of returning the cash to the Abia state treasury, the governor ,
Director General of the Department of State Security, Musa Lawal Daura and
Olanipekun, has shared the $50 million.
The desperation in the camp of the governor and his godfather is now
alarming and disheartening while Abia state is being raped, plundered and
laid prostrate. Senator Orji’s associates said he has repeatedly warned
Ikpeazu to stop using Abia money to bribe the AGF and Supreme Court Judges
over his case with Sir Friday Nwosu. According to the sources, people have
been confronting the Senator over Ikpeazu’s poor performance; he has
continued to claim that he was deceived into supporting Ikpeazu as Nwosu
was the consensus candidate handed over to him by elders of the Ukwa/Ngwa
clan.
Sources told pointblanknews.com that the trio chose to dare Senator Orji
and share the money among themselves, leaving Abia unable to pay arrears
of salaries which are being owed between 5 to 10 months. Senator Orji who
is having a cold war with his godson, is said have warned Olanipekun to
stop being used as a conduit pipe to bribe the Supreme Court and the AGF
over the case of tax forgery and submission of false information to INEC
by Ikpeazu.
In furtherance of the unholy agreement, the $50 million was said to have
been shared in the ratio of 50: 30: 20 among the governor, Daura and
Olanipekun who is a member of the recently inaugurated Corruption Cases
Monitoring Committee.
As efforts to bribe the AGF and SupremeCourt Justices continue to hit the
rocks, Ikpeazu had since zoomed of to Dubai en route China and other Asia
Countries to seek and plan how to invest his share of the money looted
from the Abia government treasury. The huge sum comprises the entire
November 2017 Abia State allocation and other funds kept in the state
escrow account and converted to US Dollars.
Sources close to Daura told Pointblanknews.com that he had assured the
governor and Olanipekun that he would do all within the powers of his
office to frustrate the efforts of the anti corruption agencies to pry
into the matter. Daura has also introduced a powerful marabout from Mali
but resident in Lafia, Nasarawa State to close the eyes of the Nigerian
authorities and Abia citizens.
There is growing tension in the Governor’s camp as the Supreme Court is
expected to deliver judgement on January 18. Ikpeazu’s associates have
been running helter skelter to ensure he gets a favourable judgment. A
serving Commissioner in the state, Charles Ogbonnaya and an unnamed member
of the State House of Assembly including Mrs Victoria Akanwa, have been
engaged to coordinate marabouts to ensure that the governor retains his
position and gets a second term in office.
