Director General Nigeria Intelligences Agency (NIA), Ambassador Ayo Oke was on Wednesday prevented from entering the presidential Villa, Abuja Frontiers news reports
Oke got into hot water after the EFCC found millions of dollars in a Lagos apartment traced to the wife of the DG.
There had also been reports that the NIA had claimed that the cash was the organization’s meant for some clandestine operations.
Mr. Oke who arrived the Presidential Villa, to meet with President Muhammadu Buhari and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, was however not allowed passage to the Preaident and Vice President’s offices.
The embattled DG who drove into the Villa in a Toyoto Landcruiser Jeep with registration no KSF 309 DH, was however hurriedly bundled into the car by his security aides and immediately drove off.
Babachir who was attending a meeting with Osinbajo, at the Presidential Villa, at the time of the announcement of his suspension, however, looked ruffled when the news was broken to him by journalists.
President Muhammadu Buhari had earlier today ordered an investigation into the allegations of violations of law and due process made against the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Mr David Babachir Lawal, in the award of contracts under the Presidential Initiative on the North East (PINE).
The President has also directed the suspension of the SGF from office pending the outcome of the investigations.
