A Lagos based human rights activist and Executive Chairman, Centre for
Human Rights and Social Justice (CHRSJ), Comrade Adeniyi Alimi
Sulaiman has called on the President-elect, General Muhammadu Buhari
(rtd) to call the members of his All Progressives Congress (APC),
particularly, its lawmakers to order by eschewing their orchestrated
ongoing political violence in Ekiti State which lead to the killing of
one Modupe Olaiya.
He insisted that the nineteen (19) All Progressives Congress (APC)
orchestrated the crisis in the State as a result of his (Buhari)
recent victory during the last Presidential election, saying that it
would not be augur well for his new administration to inherit any man
made political crisis in any state of the federation because the well
meaning Nigerians were working assiduously to tackle the security
challenges facing the land, especially, in the North-Eastern part of
the country, adding that “a word is enough for the wise”
According to him, in a signed statement which a copy was made
available to newsmen in Lagos yesterday, strongly condemned “General
Buhari’s siddon look style” over the mind boggling political crisis
rocking the state over an alleged impeachment notice by the nineteen
(19) members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) of the State
Assembly, disagreeing with General Buhari on his leadership style.
CHRSJ boss who described the Buhari’s inability to control his members
as his weakness nature of his life style in both public and private
life and he might not be able to rule the country well in years to
come, urging the people of the country to be at alert and watchful
during the reign of Buhari’s presidency.
Comrade Sulaiman who is also the Convener, Save Lagos Group (SLG),
stressed that for General Buhari not to have capacity to call his
party lawmakers to order, shown the kind of leadership, the people of
the country should be expecting from him in the next four years, noted
that “Buhari and APC leaders show that they are satisfied with the
ongoing political crisis in Ekiti State,Southwestern Nigeria which
lives of the citizens are involved”.
His words:”As a leader of the party in the country now and with this
development and for General Muhammadu Buhari’s failure to stop his
party men from this political imbroglio between the APC lawmakers and
an elected Governor of Ekiti State and the said crisis has claimed the
life of a fellow human being, this shows the kind of leadership style,
people of the country should be expecting from Buhari for good four
years, what a partial leader?.
“General Buhari needs to quickly learn about the democratic ethos
where the dignity and rights of human life will be respected, which
different from his military background where anything goes.Buhari
should take a positive position now for the interest of development of
the State and as a way to bring the lasting peace to the people of the
State. Also, Buhari should emulate the magnanimity of President
Goodluck Jonathan in defeat during the last Presidential election. If
Buhari is turning deaf ear to the current violence in the State and it
means, his administration is going to inherit many political crisis
from all the part of the country that may impede the success of his
administration”.
