A member of the House of Representatives from Kogi State, Sunday Karim,
was on Wednesday prevented from travelling out of the country by
operatives of the Department of State Services.
The federal lawmaker was on his way to the United States of America.
He was about boarding a flight operated by Air France when he was stopped
at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.
Speaking with an online medium from the airport, Karim, representing Yagba
East and West Federal Constituency, said he was on his way to the United
States of America when his passport was seized by the DSS operatives at
the airport.
Karim, elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, said he
was informed by the DSS operatives that the decision was based on a
request by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.
He added: “EFCC said I cannot travel.
“Nigeria has become such a lawless country?
“If you have issues, you would call me and get a statement from me.
“I find it difficult to believe that we’re still under a democratic
government.
“They have seized my passport and I am going back to my house now.”
