The Ekiti Government on Tuesday said contractors engaged for the 5km road project per local government risk revocation of their contracts if they failed to meet the administration’s expectations.
Chief Dayo Fadipe, the Commissioner for Local Government and Community Development, gave the warning in Ikole-Ekiti during an unscheduled visit to three local government areas.
He also said firms engaged in shoddy job execution would be blacklisted.
Fadipe, who visited Ikole, Oye and Ekiti East Local Government Areas, however, commended the three contractors there for the job done.
The commissioner urged the contractors to hasten work on the projects, saying they must be completed not later than September.
He expressed concern at the slow pace of work on some roads under construction in Irepodun/Ifelodun Local Government Area, saying government would not hesitate to revoke any contract.
The caretaker chairman of the local government, retired Major Tajudeen Awe, also expressed displeasure at the slow pace of work and urged the contractor to brace up.
Mr Joseph Kola Ogundare, a community leader in Isan- Ekiti, Oye Local Government Area, commended the state government for embarking on the 5km road project. (NAN)
