A document obtained by Pointblanknews.com shows that out of the list of 30 newly hired staff to the agency, the North has 23 slots while 7 persons were hired from the whole of Southern Nigeria.
A breakdown of the recruitment by states shows Adamawa 2, Nasarrawa 2, Sokoto 2, Jigawa 3, Kano 3, Katsina 5, Niger 1, Kaduna 2, Plateau 1, Zamfara 1, Taraba 1. Others are Enugu 2, Akwa Ibom 1, Ekiti 1, Delta 1, Lagos 1, Anambra 1. Katsina state, President Mohammadu Buhari’s own state has the highest number of persons employed in NACA.
This is not he first time heads o agencies under the Buhari’s administration have been accused of lopsided employment.
It would be recalled that Southern Leaders in a suit marked FHC/ABJ/CS/595/2020 filed on October 2, had dragged the federal government to court for lopsided appointment and employment.
The plaintiffs, Chief Edwin Clark, Chief Reuben Fasoranti, Chief Ayo Adebanjo, Alaowei Bozimo, Mrs Sarah Doketri, Chief Chukwuemeka Ezeife Kofoworola Bucknor-Akerele, Prof Julie Umukoro, Elder Stephen Bangoji, and others claimed that the Buhari-led government did not follow the principle of the federal characters in its appointments.
The case has since been adjourned till January 28, 2021, for hearing after the defendants appealed to the judge to grant an extension of time to respond to the allegation.
