Immediate past governor of Ondo State, Dr. Olusegun Agugu on Friday evening slumped and died. He was aged 65.
The late Agagu served as Minister of Power and Steel under President Olusegun Obasanjo, and then contested and won the governorship of Ondo State in 2003.
In May 2007, Agagu was re-elected governor and served until February 2009 when the courts voided his election.
He has led a low profile since then.
Meanwhile, governor of the state,, Dr Olusegun Mimiko has described Agagu’s death as shocking.
In a statement by the State’s Commissioner for Information, Mr Kayode Akinmade, Dr Mimiko said Agagu’s death was incredulous.
“This news, to say the least, is most shocking and very hard to believe. It is most unfortunate and indeed a great loss,” said Mimiko.
He prayed God to give the Agagus
the fortitude to bear the loss.
