… She was not arrested says Information Commissioner
Kano state government has dispeled as mere rumours being peddled by mischief makers the purported arrest of the wife of the governor, Prof. Hafsat Ganduje has been arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
A statement by the commissioner for information, Malam Muhammad Garba expressed regrets that the content of the unfounded story could not be attributed to any credible source such as the purported arresting agency, the EFCC.
He pointed out that most unfortunately, the fake story is being peddled on social media platforms without confirmation from either the government or the EFCC
Malam Garba said the governor’s wife has not been arrested or detained and she is presently discharging her responsibilties
The commissioner called on the good people of Kano state to disregard the rumour and also remain calm.
However, reliable source told pointblanknews.com that Prof. Ganduje was compelled to report herself to EFCC headquarters in Abuja on Sunday, and was quizzed for more than five hours for her alleged involvement in a land scandal.
Hafsat had earlier ignored the EFCC’s invitation following the petition filed against her by first son Abdulzeez Ganduje.The governor’s wife, who was drilled over alleged illegal hijack of land property worth billions of naira, was granted an administrative bill under the influence of her husband.
Governor Ganduje, who accompanied his wife to the EFCC headquarters, was said to have prevailed on the power that is with strong influenced that eventually see to the released of his wife.
The Governor and his wife returned to Kano through Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport, Kano Tuesday morning.
Abdulzeez had dragged his mother Hafsat Ganduje to the EFCC, over a property which he claim the mother used her access to power to enrich herself.
