Govs. Forum Election: Amaechi May Secure Second Term As 31 Governors Cue Behind Him

by Our Reporter

Indications have emerged that ahead of Monday’s election, incumbent Chairman of Nigeria Governors Forum and Governor Chibuike Amaechi of Rivers State might get a second term on account of a  consensus vote.

Amaechi’s tenure as Chairman of the Forum is expected to end July but there has been high powered politics sponsored by the presidency to ensure he does not return.

The plot to block Amaechi’s return is on account of his ambition to join the presidential race in 2015 as running mate to his colleague and Jigawa State governor, Sule Lamido.

The operation stop amaechi is spear-headed by Governors Ibrahim Shema of Katsina and Godswill Akpabio of Akwa Ibom State.
Over the weekend, pro and anti Amaechi have been meeting strategising ahead of Mondays election.

Pointblanknews.com also gathered that some meetings also held in the villa while the pro-Amaechi camp met late last night in Abuja.

A source who confided in Pointblanknews.com, said at the last count over 31 governors were lining behind Amaechi.
