Help, Ikpeazu’s Aides Plan To Burn My House- Abia PDP Chieftain Cries Out

by Our Reporter

Barely two weeks after petitioning the Inspector General of Police,
Ibrahim Idris, over alleged threat to his life and property; a
governorship contender in Abia State, Sir Friday Nwosu, who filed a tax
suit against Governor Okezie Ikpeazu, has raised alarm that the Chief of
Staff to the Governor, Chief Chijioke Nwakodo; immediate past
Commissioners for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs and Works,
Chief Charles Ogbonnaya and Mr. Eziuche Ubani, respectively, are plotting
to set ablaze his residence at Mgboko Umuoria, Obingwa Local Government
Area.

He has now appealed to the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, to
expedite action to protect him and his property from the alleged plot by
Ogbonnaya and others.

Nwosu said information available to him revealed that the three aides of
the governor have allegedly perfected plans to hire hoodlums in military
or police uniforms to burn Governor Okezie Ikpeazu’s residence at
Umuobiakwa town, also in Obingwa local government area, and blame it on
Nwosu. According to him, when the hoodlums are arrested, they will be made
to confess that I, Nwosu sent them to raze the governor’s residence.

The PDP chieftain alleged that he had met Charles Ogbonnaya, who is known
in Abia political circles as, ‘Evulaogu Ibeku’, at the Supreme Court on
March 29, 2017, where instead of returning his greeting, the former
Commissioner threatened that he will cook up a criminal case and rope him
in to frustrate his case against the governor. Nwosu stated that he took
the threat as a joke until some senior Abia government officials warned
him of the plot by the former Commissioner

“The plot is to hire hoodlums in military and police uniforms to burn my
house and that of Governor Ikpeazu, and when the hoodlums are caught, they
will confess that I sent them. Then, the governor will throw his weight
into the matter to set them free and possibly ruin me and frustrate my
case in court. I have never had problems with Chijioke Nwakodo, Eziuche
Ubani or Charles Ogbonnaya, my offence is that I took Governor Ikpeazu to
court over the submission of false information to INEC. Charles Ogbonnya
has told some senior Abia government officials that he will rope Nwosu
into a criminal case and ruin him.

“Why will Charles Ogbonnaya contrive to accuse me of a crime I never
committed and can never think about? I have always respected him, paid him
homage during the campaigns and supported him for his son’s wedding. I had
contacted him on 1st May, 2017, through text message asking why he is
plotting to rope me into a criminal case, but he didn’t respond. Why
should I be killed and my property set ablaze? I would not have taken the
threat serious if some Abia government officials had not warned me.” Nwosu
said.

The PDP chieftain also lamented that he had on May 1, 2017, complained to
Governor Ikpeazu over the threat by Charles Ogbonnaya to rope him into a
criminal case to ruin him, but got no response from the governor till
date.

“I told Governor Ikpeazu that as the governor of Abia State today, he has
a sacred duty to protect my life and those of others even though I filed a
case in court against him. Charles Ogbonnaya said he will rope me into a
serious criminal matter and has got the go ahead to do so. Please use your
good offices to stop Charles Ogbonnaya and his group from executing their
evil plot against me as a means of supporting you.”
