Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State has said he is praying for internal
democracy, justice and peace to reign in the All Progressive Congress,
APC, apparently referring to the internal wrangling rocking the opposition
party.
Okorocha also refuted the rumour making round the country, that the will
soon defect to PDP, Governor Okorocha has made it clear that he remains a
strong member of All Progressive Congress (APC).
The Imo state Governor who disclosed this during the State of Imo Address
to mark his 3 years in office at Imo International Conference Centre,
Owerri, prayed for Justice, peace and internal democracy to reign in APC.
“I remain a strong member of APC and not PDP, I prayed for justice, peace
and internal democracy to reign in APC.”
Governor Okorocha stressed the need for Igbos to be remembered politically
in the Federal Republic of Nigeria and made them to understand that APC
would provide a platform for Igbo man to become the president or vice
president in 2015.
On the issue whether Governor Okorocha will contest for president or
governor come 2015 general election, Gov. Okorocha said if he must run for
the governorship in 2015, “I must have one million people and each will
give me N100 while for presidency, I must have 20million people and each
will also give me N100”; adding that he is capable to transform the
country.
Owelle Okorocha who regretted that the nation is not working, expressed
hope that Nigeria will move forward in future.
He noted that breaking of due process, fighting of corruption, closing
down of all the loopholes has helped him to achieve a lot in terms of
developmental projects; adding that his dream is to make history for
himself so that generations yet unborn will remember him.
The governor who used the opportunity to enumerate the federal allocation
(FAAC) distribution, said that Imo state from June 2011 – April 2014
received N168,495.3Billion unlike her sister states. He said that despite
the least allocation given to Imo state, his administration has recorded
more developmental projects within its 3 years in office, more than other
states that receive huge amount of allocation from federal government.
Owelle Okorocha thanked the state House of Assembly for their support and
cooperation in ensuring for developmental projects in the state especially
for approving a 4-year budget plan.
The governor who acknowledged the political leaders in the state, like
Engr. Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, Chief Ifeanyichukwu Araraume, Sir. Ikedi
Ohakim, Chief Arthur Nzeribe, Chief Udenwa and others described them as
his brothers.
The Speaker Imo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Uwajumogu
expressed the willingness of the state house to partner with the state
government in delivering dividends of democracy to the people.
Hon. Uwajimogu attributed the source of the present administration within
3 years in office as a result of sacrifice and harmonious relationship
between the executive and the legislative members; adding that Imo state
is now delivered from the shackles of political distractions that never
mean well for the state.
Present at the event were the Deputy Governor, Prince Eze Madumere,
members of the state House of Assembly, Expanded Exco members, Chief of
Staff, Sir. Jude Ejiogu, Senator Izunaso, Audu Ogbe, Alhaji Bello Magari,
Ogbonnaya Onu, Tom Ikimi, Chief Timipreye Sylver, and other political
friends of the state from far and near.
