INEC e-registration: One million fresh registration a referendum against Buhari, APC

by Our Reporter
The People’s Democratic Party, PDP has said the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC e-registration where  over a million fresh registration has been recorded was a referendum against APC.
PDP also disagreed with the judgement of the Supreme Court which affirmed Rotimi Akeredolu as duly elected  Governor of Ondo State.
National Publicity Secretary of the party, Kola Ologbondiyan while briefing the media said, “there is no where that  network did not cover, no part of Nigeria that is not covered as far as the PDP is concerned.
“From the information we have received from all our members, across the 36 states and across the 774 local governments, there is no where that we have received a report that they cannot carry out online registration.
“We are happy that INEC has come out to reveal that not less than one million Nigerians have so far participated in the continuous voter registration exercise of the commission.
“To us, this one million people constitute a referendum against the bad and maladministration of President Muhammadu Buhari as well as the All Progressives Congress (APC) because many of those who are registering now through the continuous voter registration exercise of INEC are people who have attained the ago of 18, people who have never participated in the registration exercise before, young men and young women out there who are totally dissatisfied with the situation in which the All Progressives Congress has brought our country. These are the people who are currently engaging in the continuous voter registration exercise.
“The referendum Nigerians who are registering now have against APC as well as President Muhammadu Buhari bothers on the fact that they are protesting the poverty, the hunger and starvation in our nation today.
“It is a referendum against the high cost of living. Many of us are aware that a mudu of Beans in the Nigerian market is N1,000, that a mudu of garri is N600, that a bag of Rice in my own neighbourhood is N30,000 that a bottle of red oil is N750, that 12.5kg of gas which we were buying for N2,000 has become N6,000.”
On the inquiry over the role of NASS members over electronic transmission of election results voting, he said the party is calling a meeting between it and caucus in the national Assembly to review the participation of members in the legislative activity of the national Assembly as it concerns the voting on transmission of results.
The party also said that the apex court erred for refusing to agree  with the prosecution argument that there is no way that Mai Mala Buni as governor of Yobe state can also function as chairman of All Progressives Congress.
According to Ologbondiyan, “Once again we say thank you to the Supreme Court. However we insist and in line with the split decision of the Supreme Court Judgement that there is no way that Mai Mala Buni as governor of Yobe state can also function as chairman of All Progressives Congress.
“That is totally an aberration of the doctrine and dictates as established in the All Progressives Congress constitution as well as 1999 constitution as amended. We insists that the process that led to the emergence of Gov. Akeredolu was and remains a violation of the APC constitution as well as the 1999 constitution. Section 183 of the 1999 constitution states that no governor should hold any other position in any capacity apart from the office of the governor. As you know, this was the major ground upon which we went to the Supreme Court.
“So those who you find now that are registering or those that have registered among the one million that INEC has declared are coming out to display their anger against the All Progressives Congress as well as the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari.”
