The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has, shockingly, renewed the contract for Permanent Voter’s Card (PVC) and card readers from a company linked to the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential flagbearer, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, Niger State governor, Sani Bello, and one Sani Muhammad Musa, a former APC national Chairman aspirant, Pointblanknews.com gathered.
The company, Act Technologies, Pointblanknews.com recalls, as far back as 2012 had gone into partnership with INEC to provide voter registration and accreditation, as well as election-management technology, to the nation’s electoral umpire.
According to findings, The initial contract at the time was originally to have been awarded to Zinox Technologies Ltd, but powerful forces in INEC truncated the move but ensured it was awarded to ACT under the guise of “Preferred Voter Arrangement.”
When asked sometime in 2019, INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu admitted this fact but claimed that the contract to ACT Technologies was awarded by his predecessor, Prof. Attahiru Jega.
With Asiwaju Bola Tinubu’s sight on the presidency in 2023, stakeholders expressed concern that an election-rigging mechanism may have been accomplished with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) not knowing its own technology was being used against it.
A source who did not want to be named in print said ” Yes, the contract to ACT Technologies has been renewed.”
When contacted, a political analyst who craved anonymity because of the sensitive of the issue said ” This is risky!!! Is the electoral umpire unaware that and interested party is involved in this contract?
“If allowed, the consequences will be too terrible to contemplate “.
Pointblanknews.com however recalls that three years ago, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, had condemned an online report linking him with a company called Act Technologies Limited.
“Asiwaju has absolutely no relation to, or interest in, Act Technologies Limited. He had never even heard of the company until the PDP (and its cronies in the media) started this campaign of calumny” his Media Office had pointed out.
