Jonathan Sends Sambo To Borno

by Our Reporter

Vice President Mohammed Namadi Sambo is expected to brisk into the trouble state of Borno on Saturday Febuary 2 after the people and government of the state had lambasted  President Goodluck Jonathan for neglecting the state since 2011.

Commissioner of Information of the state Hon Inuwa Bwala had last week accused President Jonathan led federal  government for abandoning the state despite the ongoing Boko Haram crises which has led to death of hundreds.

“The Federal government has not been fair to us in Borno state, despite the ongoing boko haram crises the President has not deemed it fit to come and commiserate with the same people who voted for him into power. This situation is even made worse with the absence of Federal government projects in Borno since 2011″ Bwala said.

Pointblanknews.com gathered that the presidency was not happy with the stand of the state government and in an hurriedly face saving move, directed  Vice president Namadi Sambo to pay a one day woking visit to the state with a view of calming nerves ahead of 2015 Presidential election and not to commiserate with the people as being touted.

It was also gathered that the presidency in its 2015  underground plans to retain power feared it may loose Borno and others states of the north eastern region hence have commissioned some its staff to put a make- believe finishing touches to some Late President Umaru  Yar’adua’s.
uncompleted projects slated for commissioning on Saturday.

Besides, the presidency through its Minister of Information Mr Labaran Maku had engaged the  Borno state information commissioner in    a war of words following the comments on the neglect of the state by the federal government.

Even though the Borno state government had set up a lousy committee to receive the Vice President , most members of the committee were said to be angry with both the VP whom they consider as one of their own but had failed to neither visit the state nor lobby President Jonathan to visit Borno.
A member of the committee and Special Adviser to Governor Kashim Shettima said though the state see the anticipated visit of the Vice President as a welcome development ” but we really don’t know what he is coming to do. We do have expectations though but we would not want to pre-empt the VP, let’s wait and see”.

Sources at the Presidential Villa  reveal to pointblanknews.com that the President Jonathan had since commence his 2015 re-election campaign and would not want to joke with having to too many problems with northern states.

” As you may aware President Jonathan recently had meeting  with immediate past governor Ali Modu Sheriff and former governor of Zamfara state Alhaji Ahmed Sani Yerima. Shriff  single handedly install present governor Kashim Shettima of Borno, so did Yerima in Zamfara state; in essence the President is banking on these Power blocks to capture Borno and Zamfara and is not leaving any thing to chance”  the source said.

As it stands  the common man on the streets of Borno is not interested in the planned visit of Mr Vice President, rather, according to them, apart from the much anticipated return of peace to the state,  the federal government had abandoned the state only to now decide to come and commence 2015 Presidential campaigns; this they say will be vehemently resisted.
