The Joint Task Force (JTF) in Maiduguri, Borno state capital said it killed two Boko Haram terrorists and arrested 26 others during a military operation last night.
Lieutenant Colonel Sagir Musa, spokesman of the JTF confirmed the incident today in a statement issued in Maiduguri .
“Following intelligence report available to the Joint Task Force Operation RESTORE ORDER, special operations was conducted on Thursday 26 and early hours of Friday 27 July, 2012. The operation led to the arrest of 26 terrorists and the killings of 2 suspected members of Boko Haram terrorists at Biafra Bula-bulin, Kasuwan Shanu and GRA in Maiduguri metropolis.” Musa said
Musa disclose that “Some of the suspects killed and arrested were responsible for the killings of 2 Indians, a cleric and several other killings in Maiduguri in the past.”
He said items recovered from the sect include
a. 2 AK 47 Rifles
b. 3 AK 47 Magazine
c. 200 rounds of 7.62 mm Special ammunition
d. A primed Improvised Explosive Device which was detonated by the Bomb Disposal Unit of the JTF.
e. Cutlasses, daggers and charms.
f. Blood stained cloth used during the killing of a cleric in Kasuwan Shanu, Maiduguri.
The JTF also however stated that the items and suspects are now in their custody for necessary action.
