Judge orders arrest of Tompolo

by Our Reporter

Justice Ibrahim Buba on Thursday ordered the arrest of a former Niger Delta militant leader, Chief Government Oweize Ekpemupolo (popularly known as Tompolo).

The Federal High Court in Lagos ordered Tompolo to appear before it today to face a 40-count charge of alleged N13bn fraud levelled against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

However, as former Niger Delta warlord has shunned the order of the court to unconditionally appear today, the judge issued a bench warrant on Tompolo and ordered the police to produce him in court by all means.

The judge issued the summons following an application filed by the EFCC through its lawyer, Rotimi Oyedipo, alleging that they not been able to serve his with a copy of the charge.
