The death toll from Friday Kano mosque bombing has crossed the 1000 mark, a security source has told Pointblanknews.com.
No group has claimed responsibility for the blast, which the security source claimed may have targeted the Emir of Kano, Mallam Lamido Sanusi Lamido.
He was reportedly away in Paris when the attack occurred.
According to the source, shortly after the explosions, dozens of heavily armed men stormed the mosque, opening fire on the distraught worshipers.
The state governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso was reportedly in Uyo, capital of Akwa-Ibom state for a rally of his All Progressives’ Party (APC) when the attacks occurred.
