The Kano chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) rose from its caucus meeting at the weekend with a passionate appeal to President Goodluck Jonathan to be weary of some Ministers that are working against the economic development of certain parts of the country.
Addressing newsmen at the end of the meeting, the state PDP Chairman, Alhaji Adamu Aliyu Sumaila, said the flagrant refusal of the Minister of Aviation, Princess Stella Oduah, to permit four airlines to be coming to Kano runs counter to Mr. President’s transformation agenda.
He explained that Turkish Airline, Ethiopian airline, Emirates Airline and Sky Line have all signified readiness to start operating at Malam Aminu Kano International Airport but have been denied permission by the Minister.
“The interest of these airlines in Kano signifies the peaceful nature of the state and its emerging economy”, the party chairman maintained.
Alhaji Sumaila recalled that Malam Aminu Kano International Airport is the first airport in Nigeria, having been built in 1903, appealing to the president to intervene so as to open up this part of the country for vibrant economic activities.
