The nation’s crude production quota has suffered a major dip as a shadowy
militant group with alleged link to ex-warlord, Chief Government
Ekpemupolo alias Tompolo, Niger Delta Avengers (NDA), has destroyed a
major oil installation belonging to the American oil giants, Chevron
Nigeria Limited in Delta State.
Sources told Pointblanknews.com, that the militants blew up the Chevron
Valve Platform in Abiteye, Warri North Council Area on the wee hour of
Thursday.
Our reporter learned that the platform was totallydestroyed with the use
of dynamites and it is a major connecting point whereall other platforms
link
up and serves as a fulcrum to chevron BOP and theChevron Tank farm thereby
halting all operations of the company in the region.
The militant group in a statement, claimed responsibility to the attacks
which would sure cripple Chevron operations inthe State, attributing the
incident to the effort of its strike Team 6, statingthat the attack on the
facility was in line with its promise to the Nigerian government to bring
the economy to its knees.
This is coming barely a month to the destruction ofthe Forcados 48-inch
Export Pipeline, a facility of the Anglo-Dutch oil firm,Shell Petroleum
Development Company (SPDC)The vicious militant group has vowed to carry
outsuch deadly attacks on oil facilities in Lagos and Abuja, the nation’s
capitalin
the coming days.
The statement said: “We want to pass this message tothe all international
oil companies operating in the Niger Delta that theNigeria Military can’t
protect their facilities.‘’ They should talk to the federal government
tomeet our demands else more mishaps will befall their installations.
Until our demands are met, no repair works should be done at the blast
site’’.
A Manager, Tunji Idowu, who spoke onbehalf the Public Affairs Manager,
Deji Haastrup, denied that there was attackon its facility in
Delta State.
