The presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC) in the 2027 election and publisher of Sahara Reporters, Omoyele Sowore has called on President Bola Tinubu to rescue all kidnapped school children across the country or resign.
Sowore made the call while leading a peaceful protest of the Take It Back (TIB) and #RevolutionNow movements to the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Thursday.
The protesters marched from the Eagles Square in Abuja chanting “Tinubu is Boko Haram!”, “Tinubu must go!”
“We are here because of the situation of the country; we are here because the situation in Nigeria is the worst of all the countries surrounding us today, we are here as a rehearsal for what may become the beginning of a final push for a revolution in this country,” Sowore said.
“We are asking that Tinubu with immediate effect go and rescue the children, who were kidnapped from their schools across the country with immediate effect because that is what he forced himself on Nigerians to do
“The presidency that he stole in 2023 and from which we shall never allow him to come back to in this country. Tinubu must go!
“We were going to the Villa but they put soldiers in large numbers. It is not as if we cannot push the soldiers aside but because it is a peaceful protest, we decided not to have any confrontation with the soldiers or the police.”
On May 15, 2026, armed gunmen violently abducted 39 students and seven teachers from three schools in the Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, and beheaded two of the teachers while being filmed.
Residents of Borno State had also accused the federal government of silence over the abduction of 42 secondary students of Mussa community in Askira Uba Local Government and a batch of 416 residents of Ngoshe are still being held by armed men.
