sack the newly appointed Acting Director General, Mr. Mathew Seiyefa,
competent sources have told Pointblanknews.com.
DSS Personnel are currently piqued over Kyari’s recent verbal directive to
the Acting DG for a reversal of all postings recently made.
Pointblanknews.com gathered that four Directors who are due for retirement
have used their links in the presidency to remain in office and have
resisted Seiyefa’s new restructuring of the spy agency that has suffered
battered image. The four Directors are all from the North.
Sources revealed that Kyari, a top member of the cabal, has not been happy
over the abrupt sacking of Lawal Daura and has severally impressed upon
the President the urgent need to appoint a loyalist to head the spy
agency.
Sources hinted Pointblanknews.com that the attempt by Kyari and some
leaders of the All Progressive Congress, APC, to politicize the agency, is
a major course for concern.
Daura was sacked from the agency after he ordered men from the DSS to
invade and lock up the National Assembly. Daura said the decision to
invade the National Assembly was a collective responsibility.
Seiyefa was immediately named to replace Daura.
Sources told Pointblanknews.com that Seiyefa’s appointment was celebrated
as he swiftly went into action, paying allowances withheld by Daura and
reshuffling the agency to its core missions and objectives.
Pointblanknews.com gathered that the current Acting DG not only paid
allowances withheld by his predecessor but also ordered the release of
detainees who have been illegally kept in the custody of the DSS.
Part of those released were some officials of the DSS who were allegedly
detained by Daura for two years on charges of performing “illegal duties.”
Pointblanknews.com gathered that among the names being mentioned as a
possible replacement for Seiyefa is General Abdulrahman Bello Dambazzau,
the current Minister for Internal Affairs.
Dambazzau is loyalist of Buhari and a core member of the Cabal. He has
been with Buhari since the days of the defunct Congress for Progressive
Change, CPC, a political party formed by Buhari.
Cabal members view Dambazzau as a strong and strategic candidate for the
DSS top job because of the roles he is expected to play as the 2019
elections approaches. Although, it is not immediately clear if Dambazzau
would accept the position.
Since he resumed, Seiyefa has been attempting to reposition the spy agency
and redeploying politically exposed Directors. He has within the few weeks
in office calmed already tensed nerves in the agency and ensured
entitlements are paid.
Seiyefa, joined the DSS in June 1984. He would retire in 2019 when he
would have spent 35years in the service.
Attempts to reach the DSS Spokesman for comment and General Dambazzau were
not successful.
