Security In Kano Declare War Against Terrorists, Arrest 28

Security operatives in Kano, northern Nigeria have launched aggressive clampdown on the Boko Haram Islamic militants arresting 28 terrorists in different operation at the identified hideouts of the fundamentalists On Saturday.

A top security source confirm to Pointblanknews.com that scores of the Boko Haram foot-soldiers infiltrated Kano from Yobo and Borno states within the last few days.

We have arrested a number of them and the are giving useful information on their latest mission in the state. As I am talking to you, more operations are being planned, so you can expects more results, a JTF spokesman said.

He also gave indication that among the 12 terrorists arrested in Yankaba, “some of them confessed to have taken part in the killing of two teenagers last Thursday and they said they came from Yobe and Borno states to cause havoc in Kano.

They have already lost control. We are out to deal with them. The best they can do is to leave Kano immediately, because there is no hiding place for them, the JTF source added.

The JTF-led operation in the University town of Rijayyar Zaki,Kurna Asabe atnd Yankaba was the Task Force response to the spate of gun attacks by suspected Boko Haram militants in parts of the commercial city.

Another team of security personnel also acting on a tip off raided a compound in the University town of Rijayar Zakai, where another group of
10 suspected Boko Haram members were also apprehended.

Military uniforms and other incriminating items were said to have been recovered from the suspects. As at the time of this report, all the suspects have been handed over to the military authorities.

According to the state Commissioner for Police, Ibrahim K. Idris, over 200 Â terrorists have been arrested in Kano in the last one month, âand our approach has greatly curbed their antic. The security agencies in Kano are taking into full considerations, the feelings of residents.

Through useful information, we have been clamping down on their hideouts. In areas consider as flashpoints, we engage in house-to-house search for the hoodlums; and we are doing this without disturbing the peace of decent citizens.

I also want to use this opportunity to appeal to religious leaders, traditional rulers and community leaders to play their roles in ensuring that matters relating to security in the state are not blown out of proportion. It is also important for the general public to be security conscious. Always be at the right place at the right time. Residents should not panic, the JTF and the police are determined to protect lives and property in the state,” said the Police boss.
